ABOUT US
Hi, we’re Island Journeys!
Island Journeys was started by us, Nicole and Erica, sisters born and raised in Ohio who moved to Puerto Rico. Like you, we’re avid travelers, and love seeking out unique experiences in the destinations we travel to. But as we looked at what was on offer across Puerto Rico, we found that there was a lot of room for improvement. We wanted visitors to fall in love with the island for the same reasons we did, and so in 2018, Island Journeys was born.
Together with our small team of local, passionate tour guides, our goal from day one was to create an experience in El Yunque rainforest that was second to none. We’re proud now to offer that tour, a wonderful combination of hiking, nature, and exploration. We’re always on the lookout for ways to improve our service, ensuring our guests have an unforgettable experience in one of Puerto Rico’s most stunning natural wonders.
Throughout our time at Island Journeys, our co-workers have become like a second family, and we’ve made friends for life. We’re also excited to be able to support the local communities in Puerto Rico, giving back to the island we love to call home. As our journey continues, we’re looking forward to helping even more travelers fall in love with this incredible island.

Trekking in between waterfalls
…The adventure continues in El Yunque, the only rainforest National Park in the US, deep within the Luquillo mountain range. Despite being one of the smallest in the country, it has a vast amount of biodiversity. Because of this, it’s common to run into wildcats, bats, birds, lizards or Coquí frogs during a trek through the park’s guts.
Bathing in its waterfalls, lakes, and rivers is not only a must in the area but when considering all of Puerto Rico.
Before returning to the civilized world, you must immerse yourself in Puerto Rico’s Laguna Grande, one of the three bioluminescent bays in the country and one of five in the world. It’s a spectacle of flashing lights that only happens after nightfall. Island Journeys offers incredible El Yunque Forest & Bioluminescent Bay kayak tours that you shouldn’t miss. “It only takes running your hand through the water to see the all the little stars”, says Nicole Baez from Island Journeys.
